Default exhaust differences

Having just taken a practically new clam shell exhaust off the 180 I am wondering if it will fit to the CDTi

I dont like the downturn pipes on the CDTi's backbox almost like they are off a 75 not a ZT

anyone know if theis is possible
or if there is any downsides ?

A round about way to check, but looking at the hose connector clamps on Rimmer, the diesel pipe uses the same clamp as the V6/2000 but the V6/2500 is larger at 60mm. If I have it right, the 180 box has too large a pipe.

I have a V6 exhaust on my diesel tourer, fitted with no problem at all. It was only the back section so I had to cut the OEM pipe above the rear axle. Both Rover units, so no issue with the rear bumper of course.

Chap next door has a new VW 4 x 4 and has twin exhaust pipes that come out at bumper level and not pointing down.

But pointing down could be good if your towing, you won't cover the trailer in soot !

Something to do with exhaust particles, up there with EGR's and Catalytic converters....

I always thought it was down to keeping the bumper clean lol

..... but you could always cut the ends off, and screw on chrom/stainless tips? (if you do, get good quality, and smear exhaust paste around it to keep them snug and rattle free)

Same here... I had an OEM backbox with stright pipes under it. Looked ace. Now I had to change it, because it was completely rusted and got one typical TID-Diesel thing... The only positive thing is, it is very shiny... so suits the Rover a bit with that blingbling

Just a quick warning, you may fall foul of a keen MOT tester if you fit straight out exhausts on a CDT.

The reason they are turned down, is because the M47R engine, is only Euro 3 emissions compliant, which requires the exhaust to turn down onto the road. Then again, I suspect that few MOT Testers will actually know that.
