Hi Julian. I had a few of these a couple of years back supposedly from Amazon. I had not ordered anything so deleted straight away. On another note, I had a call from , supposedly TalkTalk, asking me about how my internet was performing? Told me I was having trouble with it.Wanted me to go upstairs and put it on and he would tell me what to do. Well I told him what to do and then pressed the BLOCK button. Good try, but not good enough.

Had a couple of the last 2/3 weeks ,saying thank you for ordering from us, and giving an order number, not RM or Amazon , companies I have never heard of.

I seem to inundated with FREE gift vouchers for my loyal custom form a lot of shops recently. Not a comprehensive list but John Lewis, Aldi, Lidl, Boots and Co Op and considering I have never been in either of those German supermarkets shops that is amazing.
Just before Christmas apparently I was owed a tax rebate, funny that as my accountant had only told me a few weeks before I had to pay them a few grand. I just look at the Email address it comes from, that is usually a clue if it is a fake. My brother in law who is getting on a bit was asked by somebody claiming to be Amazon to change his password a few months ago. He did and within a few days the had managed to take a few grand out of his personal account, buy numerous electrical goods and generally make his financial affairs a lot more complicated. The worse bit they managed to get a copy credit card sent to a different address and then racked up another £5k on that. When the police went to the other address is was a boarded up shop. You just have to be so careful these days. |

The Scums are out there
Yes, these parasites that dupe people with these scams are scum.
That described by you Julien got me a few years back when I was expecting a parcel from Royal Mail and I got a bug which caused me quite a few problems. A friend I saw yesterday told me he got scammed by a phone caller purporting to be from Microsoft and led to him losing over 10K (since recovered) and getting major problems with his computer, i.e. even had a password installed that blocked him. (whilst I type this my hard drive is chundering away which I hope is an update on my virus thingy - hopefully) |

Got scammed the old fashioned way last week.Gent in a smart suit collared me where I was working, said he was short £13 to pay a clamping fee.Helpful me even walked to cashpoint to get extra tenner with him,he said rich buggers won't give him the money and that I was a star as I handed him the money. He promptly legged it off towards his mate waving the cash in the airmy work colleague couldn't stop laughing and my daughter gave me a right telling off.
