in my view it depends on the reason you want the car and the sort of condition you would wsh to bring it up to if you started from scratch.
I would pay up to £6k for a V6 or below (i.e. not V8) if it had all the mechanical work completed on it that I would otherwise have done myself and was in really excellent condition. Plus no owners "mods" or "upgrades". Mine cost £3k on purchase and £6k on mostly pre-emptive maintenance but we have now owned it 5 years and 10 months. |

£2000 doesn’t seem a lot for a car with all the known jobs allready sorted

I'm dead jealous. Sounds like you have paid £2,000 for a car which is now better than new (having had all those improvement mods done)To get that work done at a garage would be more than £2k on its own. The 96,000 miles is low for a diesel and hardly counts in its expected lifetime milage. Seriously, what else could you buy for that price? An average 10 year old Ford or VW? No contest. BTW, you didn't mention colour.

Well I paid £2300 for a 97k mile 2003 ZT-T four years ago on the first August.
The load carrying capacity of the Tourers is amazing. My only gripe is that the suspension is a bit low - but my goodness does it handle well. It was all sorted when I bought it, full service history and a new clutch and DMF fitted just a few thousand miles before. I’ve had four years of pretty much trouble free motoring apart from this year when I had to replace the steering rack and pump - which was not expensive due to my sourcing good S/H replacements from here. I do have a list of things to do now - new a/c condenser is ready to be fitted as the original on it now has no fins on it. I only bought it as a stop gap - it’s proved to be one of the most enjoyable to drive and reliable cars I have ever owned - and with the 45 to 50 mpg and the fabulous power delivery - 45 to 70 mph especially - I think my Trophy Blue Tourer was a bargain. |

It really doesn't matter what you pay for a vehicle, and how well it has been maintained or prepared, things will sometimes break. We can only do our best in it's upkeep and have a good backup recovery. Knowing a mechanic with experience of our cars is very handy.

My mate's daughter has recently paid £2000 for a Black 2003 Club auto tourer with 87,000 on the clock as it's immaculate . He's in the motor trade as a mechanic and knows these cars through driving and working on mine. One road test and he told her to buy it ! She's gone from a Nissan Micra manual to a big automatic and absolutely loves it.
