Default Thomas the tank, hillarious or sad

Just heard on the News that 2 new engines are joining the cartoon Thomas the Tank series. Both female, one from Australia and one from Kenya.
They had a clip of an interview with the lady that is the voice of Nia, the engine from Kenya. Now I'm not sure if what she said is hilarious or sad but it was along the lines of "it is important that people look at the train and think that looks just like me"

Is anyone going to look at one of these engines and think that engine looks just like me?

Personally I have always modelled myself on Bagpuss and hoped that others saw the likeness.......

All my kids were brought up on the Rev Awdry books and latterly videos, all loved them and some nice memories of reading them bed time stories totally innocent of the fact that it had mostly male characters in it.

Why do people want to re-write history? It’s a bit like the Isis eedjits who try to deny history by smashing up relics of the past

To maintain the diversity I think we should re-name:
The Flying Scotsman is new character in it, so perhaps they should have called it the Non gender Scotsomething

How about..."A person of undefined gender that has the ability to transport themselves thru the air and eminate's from the north of England"
