That is not a problem, I have a car with the battery in the boot. As daveycooper says, they come with, or you can get, plug in adapters. I use an Optimate, but it will be the same idea with a Ctek. I have one of these on a number of vehicles, so it is just a question of plugging it in, without the hassle of crocodile clips.

lol......well, better than none at all!
I should have added some reasoning. One example: on my v6 75, I had electrical problem that kept making the battery flat: Lidl charger: car didn’t start. Extra long charge on lidl charger: car didnt start bought ctek charger: car started instantly next decharge used lidl charger: car didnt start ctek charger: car started and so on and so on a few times over, and everytime ctek worked and lidl’s didn’t. I suspect the cteks’ better charging algorithms (or whatever you want to call the smart brain) help “condition” the battery. |

I have read reports in classic car club sites of cheap ones causing fires. One report was of a P6 lost in a fire caused by one of these cheap ones said to have come from a supermarket. Another from a friend in Holland, who told us of, and sent pics of a garage with a collection of classics burnt down, again the fire report was one of these chargers was the cause.
Another friend has used one for many years on his pre war Austin that he keeps at his holiday home. Last spring he went over and found that the battery had exploded. Luckily no fire but the battery acid had made a bit of a mess as the battery is housed under the rear seats. After these tales I would only go for the expensive ones that seem to be reliable. "Experts" did post their ideas what the cause was and they suggest its a component failure causing them to over charge. |

Lots of metallic parts in the boot. Could even make your own by drilling a small hole and using a self-tapping screw through the earth eye to make a contact.

trickle charger
I have had them fitted to my classic cars for over 8 years. They even seem to extend the life of the battery. I use the mascot 3 stage charger. Plug and forget
