Hmm I have missed something here. I live in Devon. Spent weekends in Lynmouth and stayed in Porlock yet I have never been on this road

Maybe worth a drive out in the ZT in the summer

Haha, my pic does make it look a tight squeeze. In reality was easy. Here is another shot.

There are 3 toll roads in the immediate area, I intend spending my £2 on one of the others next time

I believe that Porlock hill is the longest steepest A road in the UK.

Lynmouth was the scene of a terrible flood many years ago.. You can still see signs of it now...

Never been on the toll road as we've always liked the challenge of navigating Porlock Hill.

A few years back we took my friend up in her 1.1 Ford Fiesta with 4 passengers. She was a relatively new driver and panicked when she didn't slow down a great deal on the way back down, obviously not using her gears. She had her foot flat to the floor on her brakes and her clutch pressed down.

We all stopped at the bottom of the hill in an absolute cloud of smoke. How she has any brakes or clutch left is still a mystery.

The hair pin near the bottom has to one of the best in the country. The toll road is used as a stage on the somerset stage rally it was also used on the rac rally in the good old days,
