Fuel pump change 2004 facelift: resonance noise
Have seen much discussion on the whining noise due to the changed HP fuel pump. It seems the solution is to replace the high pressure regulator with a pre face lift one (Mk1). I have both a 2001 and 2004 75 and only the 2004 (MK2)whines and is post VIN 5D332301.The VIN sourced from previous threads on this topic!! I can live with the whine by turning the radio up and only really noticeable in city traffic waiting at lights etc. My question is if I wanted to source a used pre face lift (MK1) high pressure fuel pump regulator is it an easy swap, are new seals required etc?. Also can anyone point me in the right direction if I wanted to buy a new one that is the same as used in the Mk1's

I was wondering that... didn't know the petrols did it. My 54 plate tractor did it for years, but it's gradually gone away over the last few years - maybe between 120k and 185k...?

Yes I was confusing my petrol problem with the diesel one although the noise and issues are very similar. I have to assume it is something else other than fuel pump issues.
