Governments do not 'run' things, only into the ground and then pass the inevitable reckoning on to the electorate. There are the occasional excellent ministers who really try hard but sooner or later they are 'advised' that their efforts are getting in the way of preferred progress elsewhere. Then they get promoted.

There are now rumours circling, no they aren't vultures, that some adjustments might be made via various tax exemptions so all may not be lost. The rumours that started these rumours are whispers about a future election and the effect that may have on personal futures. And fortunes.

Greening. Whatever one feels about the unimaginable cost of Greening, I'm sure some way could be found to mitigate those costs in favour of the supply of energy. We are after all sitting on oceans of coal and gas and other sources.

If it is such an urgency and, taking other world wide examples of sensible management into account, surely a middle way is better. In the general run of things we are miniscule in the effect we have. Why do we voluntarily impoverish ourselves before world-wide despots, who are aching to see us fail, have a laugh.

Well, from when the industry was nationalised in 1948 until around the mid 70's it was run very well. Indeed it was crucial to the post war rebuilding of the country. The integration of the transmission and distribution network was superb, so to was the staffing between the various area boards.

Only cable, poles and tower legs where run into the ground.

And very well they were too. :-)
