Well, finally got it resolved..........................................

Having checked all the wiring through, nothing obvios dscovred. Checked the IR LED ad that seemed ok.

Then the horn, air bag warning light and CC switches started playing up, so on a hunch I changed the rotary coupler, and bingo it all works.

If I get a chance i take the old one to bits and see why it failed.
