Well I've seen it now...but I still don't quite believe it...

I'm not going to say anything...descriptive expression of my thoughts would be inappropriate for a public forum...

Let me just say:

"How frustrating it is that after not insignificant expense on tools, components and replacement parts, I discover that the source of my problem is an 80p fuse which MG Rover not only hid in an almost inaccessible location, but also failed to mention in any of their workshop manuals, wiring diagrams etc etc"

Pictured here after I pulled it out from behind the carpet.

Shame I didn't find this fuse a month ago! Live and learn...

Thanks to Eurorover (quite possibly the only person on the planet who knew this fuse existed?)

Well I suppose the upside is I now have a working CD changer powered by the loom, as it should be, and I also now have the original connector fitted to the loom, in contrast to the back yard terminal block job of my predecessor...the proper connector will come in handy should I do the iPod conversion detailed elsewhere in this forum. And it's been fun (in a 'hammering your thumb nail is fun' kind of way...)

That is apalling, and that comes from someone who used to work in the infotainment department at Rover (left before it became MGR). I remember stories of the bad old days of SD1 where the central locking had a fuse like this. I find it hard to believe anyone would design like this!
