really poor reception . I have checked the fittings behind the posts and for any defects in the heated screen . Can i replace the amplifier or is there a way to test it and can i use the aeriel lead in the post to fix an aeriel to the car somewhere or do i need to replace it all.?

You don't state what system you have installed at the moment.
