Amazingly few people know about this. If somebody pays via Paypal and the item is sent without proof of delivery then the buyer simply claims not to have received it and Paypal will ALWAYS take their side unless delivery can be proven and refund their money..from your account, without asking first! The same applies should the item have been sold outside ebay.....

Ah. Thanks Zeb.

That could be a snag. I've got to send this item to France - it's too heavy for letter/packet rate so it'll have to go by Parcelforce Worldwide and I've already quoted the buyer for non-tracked shipping. He won't have to sign for it so I'm not covered against chargeback.

I would pay the extra myself rather than take the risk personally

Yes I suppose I'll have to do that Zeb. I'd have increased the postage to cover tracking in the first place but it's already costing him £41.90 (just for a 4.2kg package).

Simon a bit late now but have you tried this website for Courier Quotes?
I've halved my shipping bills with this great service (pointed out by another member here a while back)

Quotes for your package very from £17 - £38 (and I think tracked)

Can't seem to get it to quote without booking a collection Jules - but if you're right, a thousand curses!

I paid £57 in the end (tracked) - and even then Parcelforce were a day late in picking it up! (Screw up at the depot).

Parcel was 4.27kg - 47cm x 30cm x 19cm.

I wasn't far off guessing the size of your parcel Simon
Go to the link again and put destination simply as France! http://www.interparcel.com/quote/

Then just Hover over the ICONS such as DHL and hey presto up comes all the different company prices. (if no prices show, maybe your cookie settings are different to mine)

I've saved a fortune sending out things like Alloy wheels!
The only drawback is the Website needs the recipients Phone number to accept the booking.

Parcel force are really going to loose out if people cotton on to this service!

Also you get another 5% discount if you register with Interparcel
Let me know how you get on

Yep, you're right Jules.

£22+vat by Interparcel Standard. Insurance cover up to £50 is included in this price - it would have needed £400 cover but even with that it would still have been dramatcially cheaper.

Drat and double drat.
