Well that is baffling with the switch connected to the TM and then the ignition turned on do you get the TM welcome banner on the screen?
If not have you checked the TM unit is ok by not using a switch? Also just a guess I trust the switch you bought is a break before make type i.e it is not by any chance shorting all three pins together for a split second as it switches from one to the other? |

No I dont get the TM welcome screen at all. I wont be able to test it hard wired style until maybe Sat. The switch I must admit appears NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD-NAUGHTY WORD- and flimsy. I got it for £1-99 from Halfords. It works the sat nav on one side but the screen shows nothing either in the central position or the other side . In fact when switched over the screen does not change, its appears to freeze. |

Looks like the communication between the devices and the IPK display is "two way" even if for handshaking etc. to me that means that your switch must not only switch over the data line, but switch on (or off) the TM so that it resets the communications (use a "2 gang" type switch). That should be easy to do with the TM but don't know about the satnav ...

You may be right Christopher, it does seem a bit ott though.
Madone first thing I would do is make sure TM works forget the switch for now just wire it direct to the cluster you should on switch on see the TM banner as it initialises if not check the other two wires are ok. |

I meant the two way traffic bit
I am starting to think horrible things like maybe the lo-line cluster uses a different method to disply data from that wire and perhaps the TM unit is not compatable? |

I think it is "two way" in the sense of start/ stop bits etc. however it is most likely that on start-up the TM prob sends out 'setup' code ditto for sat nav - switching between the two confuses it - hence the need to reset the device when you switch over to it ...

I have just had a read, there are standard and Hi-Line clusters only so it should at least work when directly connected.
