Yes Mike ,
item number 7 as posted earlier... thing is the fault is not consistent , some times itll sit there for 4 - 5 hours idling , up to temp , then 30 - 50 mile drive , start up next day , and after half hour it goes ??

one time i changed everything and it lasted 10 minutes ???

could it be that simple the pressure cap is gone and the pressure is now and then searching for a new way to get out of there?

wrong wrong wrong ,diesels engines have and do suffer hgf ,the only diffrence to say a 1800 is that you stand a chance of save the engine as it runs at a lower temp . oh before all you wanna be mechanics jump on this and talk bs about no diesel suffers COS THATS WHAT YOU HAVE READ u have seen it on a good few ....

I suspect that rich was referring to the m47r fitted to our cars when he referred to the diesels.

Although it is not unheard of ( there was a confirmed incident last two years on this forum if I recall) it is a relatively very uncommon occurrence

Yes Diesel head gaskets can fail. I've had two go in my time. The M47 though has a very good reputation for gasket reliability. That's not to say it can't be the problem. Mind the titanic was supposed to be unsinkable!

Al; I've taken this up in the thread which you created. It's not a good idea to hijack Rob's thread as your circumstances could be different.
