As the connector has the 'twisted' wires that would mean the item that is connected to it would be on the can-bus system. Maybe a connector for when a Gen tow bar is fitted?

My 75 CDT Tourer classic has that 12 way lead also, as I found when hunting under the glove box for the CD lead (that wasn't there). I was a bit puzzled as I assumed it was the CD lead but of course does not fit the connector on the CD set. If you take out your head unit, you will discover that your 12 way lead does not go to the head unit, but disappears into the wiring spaghetti behind the dash. I suspect that it is part of the loom that would be used for the automatic climate if it was fitted (the Classic SE - mine certainly- has the manual air con and rotary controls for heating and ventilation).
It sounds like you will have to source the CD loom (I think P/No VUL100300) for the Harmony head unit. I manged to get mine off Ebay, though I do not see any on there at present. I think they are still available from dealer or Rimmers. Note: the lead is different to that used with the Symphony HU. Mike may confirm that the above part number is correct. |

You're right EnEnGee, I'm going to have to source a cable as I suspect Beng is also. The cable part number is VUL100310 I believe. By the way I don't think the 12 pin connector is for the heating system as mine has the automatic temperature control. No doubt we'll get to the bottom of it sometime.
Regards to all, Les. |

The connector looks like the some of the BCU connectors. What it controls, I have no idea. But it definately looks like a BCU connector (or one which may not be used in you car) of some sort.
Sorry, not much help... |
