It was originally developed by the French company Dassult for designing aircraft, but later adopted by several other design industries including automotive. I've also dabbled a little in 3D scanning and reverse engineering as part of my job in the past. Blue light scanning would be the way to go with with scanning individual components like wheels. I know there are companies out there already doing it, but should that lottery win come my way, I have always fancied buying myself the kit and scanning a complete car to 2 with the aim for re-manufacturing some of those hard to find components.

Has anyone thought of asking the question on the ‘ex longbridge workers’ Facebook group?
Someone may still have the files tucked away somewhere?

With reference to this Shapeways model, I've had a look.
https://www.shapeways.com/product/AB...li=marketplace I note they also do a Rover 800, I'm interested in that too. They also invite requests for custom designs, so I've contacted them and asked if they would do a Mkl R75. I've mentioned that there may be some interest from within the club, so await there reply. I didn't bother to check, at this stage, whether they would do other scales, but do know that the prices via Shapeways increase massively when you go up in size I've built a number of 3D prints in model railways. I will post on here if there are any developments. Stewart |

Good news on the 3D front!.
I've received a reply back re:the Shapeways ZT; basically a R75 Mk1 is in the pipeline - here is the reply that I got:- "Hi Stewart, Thanks for the message - there is indeed, the MK1 has been sat waiting for me to upload it for a while now. It is now up but it is up in LHD format, I will change this over shortly and get the RHD version us for sale. Price wise, it should be similar to the MG ZT. I am looking at some other printing options to see whether i can get the price down further. All the best Charlie" |

https://www.shapeways.com/product/AF...64285&li=shops Looks good to me, but add in the shipping costs and it gets expensive (due I believe to new post-Brexit regulations?) - unless somone in Holland can get them and ship over to us? |

Interesting thread - I started building an MG ZT in Blender 3d (free software) a couple of years ago (as I have a huge interest in 3d modelling, but I'm not very skilled).
Got as far as the bonnet and never carried on.....wish I had now. It's such a time consuming process to do it accurately, I never have enough energy in me to stay awake long enough these days... |
