Hi Windridge,

Had similar saga myself recently. About 2 weeks the starting problem got steadily worse and ended up with complete failure to start. I got a new pump for about £150. Best price was Roverbreakers (google em). I'm pretty sure a few people have not suffered a breakdown after months of occasionally tapping the pump, but if it was me, I'd be getting a new pump on order pronto.

One little point I learned was the that clips on the fuel lines are actually better than they look. You can get a small needle nose pliers to unclip, and pop off. then to re-clamp a big pair of blunt nose pliers. Have a practice with the ones on the fuel filter. I was ready to cut them off and get some jubilee clips.

Another point, is that when moving the battery box out of the way, you should really be careful with the pipe/cable clips. Its easy to break them.
