Default Headlights Levelling?

I was going to post this on the Xenon thread, but its a bit of hijack, so thought I would start a new one.

I dont have Xenons or projectors on my car and my drive is on an incline with the nose of the car pointing upwards when I start the car.

When I put the headlights on, I get the "eyes opening effect" that we all get, but if I sit there long enough with engine ticking over, rolling a cig or whatever, my headlights seems to go up and down automatically to try and not be pointing up towards the sky because the car is on an incline.

So, is there some sort of self leveling in my headlights even though they are plain old H7 bulb type ones with the flat glass front (dont know the actual name of these type of headlights?

It sounds like a fault.

Only the HID's have the required by C&U self levelling, the rest have an adjuster on the light switch. Maybe worth checking whether you have the height sensors on the O/S front and rear suspension arms though, just in case it has been converted back from HID.

If it has the height adjuster on the LSM, might be worth twiddling that up and down, to check the reaction.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

When you turn the car on, you can get (i seem to get it if I turn the lights on THEN the ignition) a self-test mode, where the lights go all the way up, all the way down, then back to where they were before.

They are NOT levelling, just testing - but loads of people get this confused.

Interestingly I was looking at lower arms yesterday and on Rimmers there's an option for Xenon arm. I assume it has an extra mounting point for the levellers?
