Cool Banana has failed her MOT...............

.............................. lower n/s ball joint and all her brake pipes. No surprise on the brake pipes as they have been advisories for a couple of years now. And whilst she is in having everything fixed she will also undergo a full service. After all she is a very special car to me and she deserves a wee bit of TLC, and before she goes into the body shop next month.

Moorland Auto Solutions have her. They have worked on all 3 of mine. They are also American car specialists, so the Bear is well looked after.

In there workshop is a Facel Vega. Now there is a rare car.

Nothing out of the ordinary for a car of her years Bob.

A few years ago I was in St Vaast near Cherbourg and came across a Facel Vega. Mentioned just how rare a car it was, then we went round the corner and there were a dozen or so parked up.

Turns out the Facel Vega Owners Club were in town for a meet.

Cool Seems she put up a fight...................

................................. but she is now home. But at least I know that the brake pipes will outlast me. And she has only covered less than 6,000 miles since her last MOT.

Love this car.

Default Well done

Well done Banana! Another 12 months motoring to look forward to. That must be the least Banana has done in 12 months recently given your well documented wanderings!

As you say, a special car

Cool Expired, again.......

.................. when I got Banana back she seemed to be lacking something. Not sure what it was but then I thought having not driven her for awhile maybe it was just me. After all going from the V8 to the 1.8t via the CDTi does throw you from time to time.
Just needs a good run, maybe.

So last night I took up to Torquay for Matt Darkes birthday dinner, no problem she pulled like the proverbial train. Came out after the meal, it was now quite frosty. She did not want to fire, turned over ok, but not firing. Eventually she burst into life and ran sweet all the way home. When parking up I have to reverse in, she cut out. After a few try’s she started but run lumpy and cut out again. Eventually got her parked up.

Took her out this morning and she died another 3 times. Managed to get her home. Phoned the garage, think they understood how I felt by the tone of my voice. I was not rude or angry at them.
So now she is going back in. I think it could be the cam sensor. Crankshaft sensor was replaced last year unless that has failed.

Random problems do happen so I would never say never but I wonder if whatever the full service entailed can maybe shed some light on the matter.

Cool Cam sensor

The cam sensor has failed. New one on order as it appears there is a modified version. So the garage is keeping the car. Pointless me collecting her. At least she is in the dry.
