Default Wing Mirror damage

Looked around the site for similar problems but they are years old.

Just had my nearside wing mirror vandalised (matt black type). It is broken off and hanging by the cable. I am not the DIY type. Worried about parts availability etc. Is an independant garage able to fix it. Anyone know any in south Manchester?

Hi Phil,
It's probably too badly damaged to fix,
but there's a car breakers in Stalybridge, on Robinson Street called Auto Salvage. The last time I was there they had a couple of 75's & a ZTT.
Give them a call & see what (if anything) they've still got.?
Get the yard to quote you for the part already removed & then take that part to whoever normally does your repair/service work, for them to fit it for you.
Best of luck

Ditto the offside mirror on my Rover 25. kicked off at 22.38 last Saturday by one of fifteen passing teenagers, males and females, some carrying what might have been boxes of booze. Only noticed it when I went to use the car Sunday afternoon to visit my elderly mother in hospital.

The mirror glass is convex and heated and I have ordered a replacement on ebay for £5.99. It is just the heated glass without the backplate as I hope to use the old one after removing the broken glass from it. The mirror glass complete with backplate can be had for ~ £10 and it is another option for consideration if needed. However any problem and I might just buy a complete used unit and swap over whatever is needed ... complete units can be had for ~ £15 and under on ebay atm.

Your 75 and my 25 I think might share the same mirror glass and if that is all that is broken then you could do as I have done, but you will need the nearside mirror glass. Click

Thanks. Went to the Stalybridge place yesterday on your advice. They had a couple but were unsuitable. I'll check weekly or so if they get more 75's in.

Try ebay

you will be able to source parts even if not the right colour any is better then none.

post a picture of your type of mirror as someone may be able to help with a replacement

What was unsuitable about them?

There is only 2 types skullcap or bullet type and the covers are changeable if you found one in the wrong colour.

I've a bullet type in the shed if your looking for one.

Probably because he was looking for a "wing" mirror & not a "door" mirror
