Why oh why would a UK car company put an american made engine in their car???? dohhh
The USA is to car engines, what Steve Davis is to weight lifting, innit... The car should have been fitted with the old Rover 3.5 V8 engine. ... |

Yes Rover V8 is an American designed engine but it was unpopular over there. Rover took it and made changes which made it the success it was in the uk.

I have owned a V6 S type and I loved it. Very comfortable, lovely interior and I would still have today if my needs had not changed (Got a dog). I love my 75 too, or should I say I do all the time except when it is idling and doing tractor impressions. I can't comment about the pros and cons of the S type R over the V8 as I have never been in either and never will. I must say though that the 2.7 diesel S type is a lovely bit of kit and if they did a tourer version I would have one like a shot.

It can't have been all that much of a success. The Ford Focus was a success as they have sold millions of them!

Can't have been all that much of a success? The Rover V8 was fitted to land rover, range rover, mg, TVs, rover, stag, triumph and so on. It was a feniminal success!!

I have no interest in the V8s, they strike me as a bit of desperate effort from a company that could see the writing on the wall. But they bring a lot of happiness to the enthusiasts and I respect their efforts in keeping the dream alive!
I was also considering getting a diesel S type as they seem remarkably cheap till I read on this forum about the rust Last edited by bobthebuilder; 6th March 2016 at 09:35.. Reason: Wrong Jag |
