For me the S type was always the runner up to the 75 in styling, at their launch 1998 motor show the 75 looked right from every angle, the S type didn't .My thinking is that the team at rover worked together to create the best they could. Jaguar however had to please American customer focus groups (have a look at the terrible selection of prototypes for the S type online ) + fords parts pin culture didn't help the feel of the inside.

Default yes but

i think a lot of the 3.5.s popularity was down to availability what else was there to chose from that was readily available at the time triumph v8/or ford v6 cologne anyone???. and by the way i think the 3.5 especially 3.9 are a great engine. as for a rover v8 what about the rover meteor v8 as found in the antar tank transporter

Well i have been looking into the S type R recently as well as purchasing a Supercharger for my 260 directly from Kenne Bell.
For the cost of a decent low miles S Type i can get the Supercharger and have it mapped. Or do i buy the Jag that already has a supercharged V8... 😆
Going to buy the Supercharger as cant part with my 260...😆

Brutal machine that looks brutal too. Not my cup of tea if I am looking for a Jaguar. I would want one in dark blue with cream leather interior and waft around town listening to the whisper of the aircon.

If I were 30 years younger, with a rich Father and a need to die young then maybe I would buy it!
