Cliff Richard wins his case against the BBC
Good decision in my view. The coverage of the Police Raid on his property was pretty grotesque to those of us who believe people are innocent until proven guilty.
I am amazed that the BBC saw fit to defend its actions. I pleased also that the Police Force who informed the BBC of the raid such that it could be televised was also found guilty. |

Good, and the only decision to come to.
BUT....it wasn't the intrusive long lens helicopter peering in the bedrooms, as you might think. It wasn't the police involvement and collusion with the BBC, as you might think. According to the BBC news (!) what was in the judgement was the act of naming CR in the absence of a charge that was the problem. This goes to the much wider blatant publicity grab of naming suspects prior to not only not having been actually charged with any offence but also not having been even questioned! It will have a much needed massive effect on future voyeuristic expeditions into trash reporting. This has had a huge effect on CR, he is now a nervous wreck and I would hope for a full recovery and wish him well. Unless you have been falsely accused of even the most minor transgression there can be little understanding of the personal sadness of it.
