My reverse warning system isn't .....
warning me, that is. The reverse lights all work as intended, but I don't get the little warning beep when I go into reverse, for parking, say, and nor do I get any sort of warning when I get close to the car behind (except for the bump perhaps!). The rest of the services on the fuse for the reverse warning system all seem OK. This started about three months ago, and was intermittent, but has now gone hard down.
Is my local Rover chappie (two and a half hours away in Sydney)with the computer thingee going to be able to tell me what's wrong? Or would I be just as well off going to my auto-electrician (who has probably never seen a Rover before)? |

I'm thinking more the Sounder could be faulty,
as you get some type of noise if its a sensor fault normally. |

There is a diagnostic procedure for the park distance control (PDC) in the data section of the main site. It's worth reading this before starting.
Does the sounder give a long beep when engaging reverse? Do you hear any audible clicks from the sensors with reverse selected (ignition on)? I believe the dealer computer has a diagnostic package for the PDC. That may be able to tell if it's the control unit or sounder at fault. |

It appears the diagnostics didn't show anything, but dismantling, then cleaning and reconnecting as many of the connections that were available fixed it. It's all working like a bought one, now. The box behind the trim on the right hand side of the boot appeared to be the main culprit.
Thanks for the suggestions. |
