Cannot beat a new plate - always makes the car more special. However, the GB flag is now sadly obsolete - UK rules!

Union jack is Ok , its the GB union flag is not allowed post brexit .
if you've one of those you will need a GB oval badge as well , that's if you are bothering to go abroad quote When you buy new number plates, or if you want to change your EU plates, they can display one of several legal UK national flags, including:

Can we have a Union flag and GB on the plate but a separate oval must be UK or is it now plates with a LH side strip with a Union flag and UK (does it have to be a black ground?) and an additional oval is optional but must be UK? Why is there a differentiation within the UK constituent countries, surely these plate idents are intended for identification outside the UK? Anyone should be free to use Welsh, Ccottish or N.Ireland logos on their vehicles but surely not as part of the registration plate which is a national/Country identity - or am I just daft (no don't answer that)! Hi Chris. To check your reg number, go onto DVLA site, go to stolen, reg number change, and you number is there. They evidently have a separate site for reg changes. Just found it.

Had a quick look at the UKGov site. England, Scotland and Welsh oriented owners can pretty well put anything in terms of flag and national abbreviation and LH side stripe colour on the reg. plate but to be legal AND drive abroad (that for most of us means the wider Europe) we MUST display the old GB oval (think that should be black GB on white oval ground) separately. Northern Ireland however must still observe all the EU regulations on this subject!!
Interesting that the official website didn't make any mention of the newly introduced green LH stripe for (is it only) battery drive vehicles? |
