Hi All and Happy New Year

Car went in to the doctors today Rattle Noise from engine
been told it is the inlet manifold and needs replacing cost inclusive
is £784.30 with the work taking about 3hrs to do.... Questions
Is this price about right for what needs doing and has anybody
in Roverland done this job for themselves and if you did was it difficult

May well be worth replacing Vis motors 1st at cost of about £120?
some garages will just automatically change the whole manifold. Get a 2nd opinion 1st:xmas-smiley-013:

OOPs just realised you are in Coventry. There is a nice man, a very nice man
called Lates on this forum. Look on the members list for Lates.600 then look at his website. A 75/ZT specialist no less, in Coventry.
Contact him for an opinion. He is always very busy, but I am sure he would listen to the car and tell you, manifold or motors? and if the problem is not urgent will book you in:xmas-smiley-013: Dave

Top Shout there Dave ( Twice)

Lates is the man, and it could be the VIS motors, most likely culprit is the power ( top) one.

Lates will need to listen to it as the noise caused by motors and inlet manifold would describe exactly the same. You will need to get the car to him.
It might take a day or two to get a reply as he is always very busy.
Worth the wait as regarded by this site as the Best Dave

cambelts had been done but thats another story
