Car sometimes will not start
This is a strange one, but im sure you guys on here will have me up to speed asap.
My ZT kv6 starts everytime on the button, but twice now ive unlocked my car, set up my satnav, sorted out some paperwork to my next job and the car feels like shes been immobilised, for some reason theres nothing, i can keep turning the key to no joy, i have found if i re-lock and unlock my doors from the keyfob she then re-starts with no problems. So is this just me farting about taking far to much time and upsetting her or does it sound like there could be a problem in maybe my key or key fob batt?? Thanks in advance peeps |

that shouldnt cause a problem. it sounds if the immobiliser is immobilising for some strange reason, which it shouldnt do when the key is in the ignition. the engine is still immobilised when the doors are unlocked and only activates when the key is in the ignition

Locking and immobiliser functions aren't related.
The battery in the keyfob isn't used for the immobiliser: the chip is read by a coil in the ignition barrel. It's read as you switch on the ignition, so I think what you are doing should make no difference. Do you get any sort of warning tone or light when you switch on and it seems immobilised? |

no mate, nothing.
Just acts as if is been immobalised. The first time it had happened i tryed turning the key about 5 times before i relocked then unlocked, then she started 1st time. 2nd time she done it once so i just re-locked and unlocked and off she went. i though it was just me taking far to long to start her up as my astra with a cat 1 used to only let me start her within the 1st 30secs of the fob unlock |

Immobiliser issue would bring up a warning light. If you site for a while with accessories on, then maybe the (main) battery gets too low to start. Check the battery condition.
Another possibility would be a faulty ignition switch. Do any of the normal dash lights come on? |

this has happened a number of times with rover i have had in the past at work. I think that the ignition immobalises itself if the vehicle is not started in a certain time

Other models had a different immobiliser, where the alarm / locking were related. The immoblisier was disarmed when unlocked and rearmed if you didn't start it. The 75 is a BMW system, and only switches off the immobiliser when you switch on the ignition (or at least turn to acessories position). |

It looks like the immobilisation warning only appears if you have a message centre display. The manual doesn't list a standard warning lamp for it.
Here's what the manual says about immobilisation occurring: · Three seconds after the starter switch has been turned off. · If the key is removed from the starter switch. The engine will be re-mobilised automatically whenever the genuine handset key is inserted into the starter switch and turned to the first position. A bad contact on the ignition switch remains a possibility. Some members have reported problems with the starter motor not always turning due to bad contact on the solenoid. This is often mistaken for immobilisation. Cleaning the spade terminal often cures the problem. |
