look for a shiny metal cylinder with a single fuel line coming out of the top to the left of the battery as you face the engine ,if it aint there you have the single intank pump.

I have a Synergy 2A+; I have not heard of the Rimmers one. The Synergy is pretty well established. It has the effect of allowing additional fuel in I guess on acceleration. It delivers better throttle and torque response; various settings can be used. You can also change the MAF if the original one fails for a cheaper Pierberg option (rather than the Bosch one).

Its very easy to fit as are certain other mods like the O rings and cleaning or bypassing the EGR. There is also a little filter in the top of the engine called a PCV filter which is again worth changing as it often has never been done (lots of threads in the how to with photos)

I am very happy with the Synergy. I have now also done an EGR bypass, PCV change, decat, freeflow stainless exhaust as well as the PB MAF. Now I am getting 44+ MPG routinely out of an Auto Tourer (which is also now pretty nippy!)

Re a decat, whilst I was in my local garage a while back, a 75 diesel came into the yard, and it was blimmen noisy!! My mechanic told me they were all a bit like that after a decat...

well I guess it depends what silencing has been added to the new exhaust. I have a single box system so its got quite a nice burble but its not at all noisy (compared to the clatter of the engine!)

Obviously you can have an additional silencer or a smaller one to make it quieter or noisier. I have found that I now no longer leave a Batman style cloud behind me as I whizz up hill so I think my Cat was entirely full of particles!!
