The point being that I think mine was a little sticky or lazy, but not plain duff.
It makes sense that the Power VIS can go the same way, imo.

Klarzy's suggestion will be the best way to go first, but you have another route if all is ok with the MAP sensor
I do have stocktakes balance vis fitted.

What about the butterflys in the manifold can these play up?

Thats because your car has not got a 190 gearbox!

I don't think it's your balance VIS in this case.
I always keep an eye on VIS motor problem posts and it seems a flat spot or lack of a surge in power at around 3500 is a specific symptom of a Power VIS problem.

I believe the butterflys are also a typical problem, from what I've read on here, but I don't know enough to comment specifically.

I think then I will test the power vis evey day then.
Thanks.

Simon, I have this sometimes aswell - usually if I've been poodle-ing, (and I mean poodle-ing like not going over 2000rpm) around all day and then suddenly decide to give it some welly. It'll like pick up, then falter for a split second and then take off like a scalded cat! (This generally in 1st gear only).

But if I have been driving around not so sedately it doesn't do it, never!

I've come to the conclusion, (and this is my way of putting it) is that the engine has dozed off and giving it some unexpectedly makes it go into shock - but thereafter, once awake, it's fine....lol.

ps. Both VIS are OK...

Well checked my vis motors today straight after a hours drive and both are dead.
Checked and rechecked my vis tester and its working as it should. Rechecked vis motors and still dead just a very quite click from each then the control button is pressed.

As per the PM I have sent you, check the batteries in the Vis tester, they do just stop powering the Vis motors. Balance one you have is built on all new parts so doubtful it will be a problem.
let me know what you find. It is likely that the power Vis does start with intermittent operation due to the nature of its failings. A refurb sorts this.

Can you clarify any problems with the butterflies?
For hopefully future reference, in my case

Simon,

I also recommend that you slide out the balance flap and check that it moves freely without any stickiness.
