Default Rover 75 2.5 V6 flat spot on accelerating

I have had a flat spot which from what I read on here is due to a sensor.

What is the name of the sensor and where is the best play to buy one please?

I tried looking on the Europarts web site but I was not sure what I was looking for.

It seems that it is a job I can do myself but the problem is getting out the screws holding the sensor in.

Cheers

You sure it's not a VIS problem?

Vis-a-vis you need them reconditioned.

No from still ! especially when i want to pull away fast. Quite alot of info on this forum suggesting its a common problem. It could be Vis as mine have been tested and not working. Could be the ignition is not advancing.

.....if your VIS has been tested and is not working, i'd say it is that....but having had similar symptons (on my ZT190) and changing my power-VIS it didnt resolve issue. So next to check is the balance-VIS. Otherwise the coil packs....?

Does it do it when the engine is cold? Mine only does it when warmed up. So within say 5mins of driving.

My money say both VIS motors need testing.
With a big stake on the balance VIS (the back one) being the problem

This is exactly the problem I saw, with no power off the mark.

My typhoon 190 did this ( Err... my vis motors are working ) Nightmare to move off from standing, needed silly revs. I thought I had forgotten how to use a clutch at one point it was hopeless. Map sensor replacement cured it . I will have the part no somewhere.... back in a Mo........

Edit: rimmers part no

or,

or,
Borrow one from a friend ( 2mins to remove/refit) and make sure this is the problem

Thanks for help. I too have to have high revs and let clutch out slowly to pull away slowly or will stall or car will jerk. Also when I have to slip it in to second.

The problem is not so bad when starting with a cold engine but that may be because the automatic choke is in operation. Only a thought.

You say its a 2 min job but where is the sensor located please?

I have read somewhere that the are held in with those silly star screw thingy's. Where do I get one to fit the screws? Dont want to pay mega bucks.
