I think you will find the "rasp" is caused by the decat pipe

The sound of a Powerflow exhaust will be tuned to the customer's requirements, unlike an off the shelf stainless

Yes of course it is, I think the powerflow systems are on the cheaper end of the market.

I didn't go with the powerflow crowd (no offence) and had a local custom firm make up a 2.5" stainless centre section, no intermediate boxes, and to smooth out the rasp got them to fit a Blitz (or HKS, can never remember but it's a Jap-Can either way lol) 5" round straight cut stainless backbox i had kicking around...

Now it chucks out a very Subaru-esque burble, not over loud during normal running but very deep, but it howls when you wind the turbo up! The custom exhaust guys said it's a very unique sound, and quite unlike what they expected (they were betting on mega loud and raspy as hell). I think it sounds ace and turns a lot of heads, even just starting it up in Tescos carpark (other supermarket carparks are available)
