Oh dear, when I did mine up I couldn't get a torque wrench on and I'm sure I tightened them up too much (it was a low setting specified iirc).
They tightened and didn't seem to go loose or strip, but I need to take them out again soon and am worried that I might end up with the Moonshine's problem...

My brother is going to weld a support onto the sump bracket to take the drive shaft. He is pretty nifty with metal fabrication and welding, and is confident that will solve the whole issue from happening again.
The engine replacement is unfortunately due to the engine being a titsy bit cooked. We are investigating full damage but doesn't look good. She had barely any oil - just a tad in the sump. But either way, the adaptation that he is doing should stop the bolt shear again. Or put a defender V6 in! They are same engine, but much more thought given to the position of the drive shaft! We have a couple of other ideas to stop the bolt problem ever happening again, but the welded support seems on paper to be the best option. Will post pics as and when I can! Any other ideas would be appreciated.

Dont make the mistake that a Freelander or Rover 75 V6 is exactly the same. Plenty on here to tell the difference i.e hi lift cams etc.

Golden rule! it has to come out of a ZT 190 or ZT 180 and make sure he hears the engine running as there are plenty of duff ones floating about advertised as perfect etc.

and Car finally on the road!! Due to holiday and bad health, brother delayed on repairs, but today the last part done, and she lives!
We were lucky with the engine, all the tests have shown it to be sound thankfully. Mick, (my brother), filed off all of the chemical metal to see the state of the block. Thankfully, it wasn't too bad. Enough of the alloy to allow retapping. So he has basically locktighted 2 threaded rods into the holes. (had to go to m10 in the end). Once that was done, he fabricated a bracket for the drive shaft to attach to, reattached the exhaust, gave it all a good service, and started her up. I've been using her all day, and she is running great. The vis motors function as they should, she is reaching temperature and not fluctuating, gear box is sweet, and can I confirm to Simon that he'd be proud of the rumble from his exhaust! I'll post the sound on YouTube when I work out how to do it! I'll keep a close eye on temperature and oil levels while she settles, but I think we have been really fortunate. I've got a beautiful car on my drive.
