Default Sometimes I really hate scrappy's..

Down my local today, and a dark purple 75 2.0 V6 on a V reg was driven in. Not sure what spec, as it had manual leather seats, electric rear blind, and chrome bullets. No front foglights, no parking sensors, and manual dip mirror. Anyway, I asked if they'd sell it whole, and was told yes. By the time I'd walked back round from the office, some spotty oik had forked it into a corner, and plonked a vectra on top of it... 10 months mot as well. The guy that drove it in had taken it in px yesterday. Not a happy bunny..

Well thats just ridiculous and a great pity. The spotty oik needs a good talking to.!

I would have felt slightly better about this if he had put the Rover on top of the vectra.

Awful shame.! Did the yard owner not know what was happening?

Had a similar thing recently, needed a new bool lid lifting arm (due to the stupid auto boot lid lift mod...) so went to my scrappy for one. They had a 75 in so I asked if I could have the arm of the boot lid, no problem I was told we will just get that for you.

They clearly had no key for the car and the release must have been broken as they used a forklift to "pop" the boot lid, in the process ruining a perfectly good rear bumper and a boot lid.

Bloke comes over with the arm, there you go mate, a fiver to you. Crazy they have just ruined two good parts to sell me one for a fiver.. Makes you wonder...

The criminal bit is the perceived value of the car, and that in the end is down to what we, as "enthusiasts" are prepared to pay. Let's be honest, our cars are worth peanuts, so a liability to the trader that brought it in, and to the scrappy, the quicker it gets melted down, the quicker he gets his money back.
That, and a quick look at a XPart price list will quickly explain why our cars can be bought so cheaply.

That is a sorry state of affairs.

A few years back I spotted an unmarked MG Magnette, when the grandad of your spotty oik did just the same, another, much less worthy vehicle dumped on top.

Sandstone. It was an ex-taxi with 160k on it. The seats showed every mile... To be fair, the only thing it had going for it was the colour. I checked the temp, and it was ticking over at 107c, with the fan going full tilt.
