One for MarinaBrian..........
I had a strange happening today I was driving along at about 65/70 mph when it started to rain so I switched my headlamps on....as soon as I did the engine died.....switched the lights off but the the engine did not start up again.I rolled to a stop and all the gauges ie temp and fuel were not showing anything.I switched off waited and restarted the car, every thing worked as it should.
Got home and with the engine still running I turned the lights on and all was OK so do you have any idea's???Brian or any one please

Sounds like a bad connection, I'd check the battery leads & the connections to the underbonnet fuse box to start with

I would say the battery's on its way out.
A good recharge & test will tell all (or just replace if it's been on there for many years). I'd also check the alternator output while I was at it. |

It only happened when I turned the lights on it was just like you had switched the car off.switched the lights off and initially would not start, after about 30 seconds it started fine and drove normally.I then, while stationary raised the revs and turned the lights on and off and all was ok

The battery clamps are a tapered fit, slacken the bolt and gently tap down before tightening
It may be a faulty battery

In that case, check the battery connection as Greeners has said otherwise, I'd be taking the battery back !

Hi.
Possibly the LSM was wet. Turning on the lights may have upset the K-Bus and the car died, I'd not expect the engine to die while running if the alternator was charging OK turning the lights on.

Warning!
Hi mate
Check the light switch as a matter of urgency. If the unit behind the switch is at fault or wet they have been known to go on fire. Check it thoroughly. If changing they need coding to car as they store the mileage as well as ecu/instrument panel Chris |
