To some that amount is a huge amount and can mean the difference between having a car and not having one.
Edit:- To put this into context my daily driver which is a 75th Anniversary MGF we paid £250. It cost a further £135 to get it transported to home from Tamworth. It did require far more work that we were led to believe and the upgrades have added a lot to the cost. My BRG MGF VVC cost £155 with 6 months MOT off ebay. Over the couple of years that we used her I have also added upgrades as well as replacing aged and worn out stuff like the suspension bushes in the rear. This way the costs are spread out and I can have fun transport however due to a sudden change in circumtances and a vast drop in income am having to sell cars and swap to more economicals ones and cannot affod to keep them just as a fun hobby.

Hi.
Of course steel wheels are not to be laughed at, they don't leak like alloys and a damaged trim is cheaper than a wheel refurb. I know we all like our toys but as a daily driver a base spec will still get you to your destination just like a top of the range connie SE and the base spec seats feel OK too. I'd be happy to have a different car than others so long as it did the job.

Also remember that to most people a car is a car. As such they neither know about the differences in spec or indeed care about it.
£350 for a nice big comfortable car? Why not. |

I've got a set of steel wheels with winter tyres on. Come November they will be going on and the alloys will be garaged away.
Don't have any trims though.

I've got a Classic in the yard on steel wheels, I'm also currently running a Classic SE but that had "Contours" on it which the previous owner wanted to keep, so I fitted a set of Mk2 ZT 5 spokes which give the car quite a nice look in my opinion. Also after going from a really well specced up ZTT it really doesn't bother me having wind up air con or manual windows in the back...............after all I sit in one seat & one seat only & my window's electric

Given a few years when the original plastic trims become like hens teeth they will know doubt command a high price amongst the purist of our cars.

I actually considered fitting steel to my car.they are readily available brand new.no more worrys about cracks refurb costs etc.the trims however are like hens teeth.rimmers did have some but they where a lot of money so that idea went out the window.however I quite like them a bit different to say the least
