Morning from a rather parky Scotland. Sunny but no heat in it. Sorry Rod but the heating is on the timer, just to take the chill away morning and evening.

Don't do what my father did when they got the new shower fitted. My mother wanted a shelf for soap etc so my father went to fit it. Drilled a hole . . . . directly below the shower unit . . . . yep, into the water pipe! We heard a roar from the bathroom and found my father standing with his finger trying to stop the horizontal fountain shooting across the shower. I turned the water off, after I managed to stop laughing. The plumber, a family friend, was highly amused as well.

Talking of 6" nails -the one thing that was of interest over the past week or so was the quality standards of the original house builder (Wimpey, early 1970s). There don't appear to be any screws (the threaded type) anywhere in the house - everything was put together with those 6" nails. In addition, they didn't bother plastering behind the bath and various fitted cuopboards etc. - on dismantling, we were straight into bare breezeblock. The best part (from my point of view) of the new suite is that the loo has a soft close seat - it can't crash down and discomknockerate you
