Will the front door fit inside the car?

I've recently purchased a new front passenger door for my Rover 75 Saloon CDT, the only problem is it's 200 miles away. I was going to pick it up tomorrow but I thought I best do some measurements to see if it will actually fit inside my car, but now I'm not sure if it will as the door is measuring to be a lot bigger than expected.

I don't have a trailer or a roof rack, the door was £20 so was pretty cheap as a breakers yard wanted £60 for a door that didn't match my colour (Moonstone green)

Does anyone know if I would be able to put it inside my car? I'm willing to remove seats, the back seats go down but the boot hole isn't quite big enough.

I don't know about the saloon but I have had a front door, tailgate and a rear bumper in the boot of my tourer.

Could it fit through the rear door maybe?

The tourer has such a big boot!

Unfortunately the rear doors are smaller than the front so it won't fit through the hole.

I thought about strapping the door to my roof but my father said that doors are so heavy that I'll just end up denting my roof.

Really? A full sized door? How did you get it in the car? Did you put the glass section through the hole and had the door laying on the folded down seats? And how about putting it in the car, was it difficult?

That makes me happy to hear it is possible, I was worried I would have to source a trailer.

I just dropped the rear seats & fed it in through the boot, cant remember if I had the top in first or not but you'll work it out.....................just be careful not to scratch your bumper

If the worst comes to the worst, just swap the doors over and leave your old one there. It's a simple job to take a door off and put a new one on - the wiring just unplugs inside the door post in the car.

And this is with a full sized door not the rears? My boot doesn't look wide enough to fit a door through hmmm, I think I'll try remeasuring unless you have a bigger boot somehow.

I did think about that but I was worried the door would be too heavy, plus I would have to align it, but if it's not too difficult then I will certainly give it a go.

I'm going alone so no backup for me!

Trust me it fits & yes it was a complete front door still fitted with glass & mirror & everything

I've had a rear door in the boot so see no reason why a front wouldn't fit. As Colin says drop the rear seats. Couple of old blankets don't go amiss.
