Default Open Bonnet indicated – but definitely closed

Was doing some work in engine bay – but caught by heavy rain. When locking car – bleep –then showing bonnet open icon when unlocked.
Thought maybe the-bonnet burglar alarm switch- damaged by rain so replaced. Problem still there. Checked Plenum – dry ( have done spy hole mod so regularly checked)
This would have been liveable with but also getting unpredictable alarm sounding (annoys neighbours). Then showing ringing bell icon on IPK when unlocking car (not a symbol shown in handbook.)
Could be wiring? But would need to remove front end to check – don’t want to do this unless this is a possible cause.
Disconnected battery for a whole day and problem disappeared – only to come back on first outing.
Would a T4 session narrow down source of problem? - maybe at next Nano meet?
(Currently avoiding alarm by manual locking)
Advice/guidance please.

Most likely some water has got into the bonnet switch. Pop it out & make sure it's clean & dry......................the switch that is

I would try and adjust. Sounds as if the button is not pressed down far enough to switch the contact off.
Fold a piece of paper a couple of times and place on top of switch when closing the bonnet.

Try self-adhesive cork disc/feet from Wilco.

Drop the bonnet to close as normal, then check both front corner locks have locked, both times I had this one of my locks had failed.

Thanks for all replies. Will wait until finished painting indoors and the try manually holding switch down to see if that cures beep when locking. If so will pack out switch as advised
Thanks All

Default Tale Continues - any more thoughts?

Opened bonnet this morning, held switch down and locked with fob - no bleep
.so assumed that packing piece need. Tried 2 or 3 times again including once with bonnet being shut and no bleeps . After that bleep has come back!!!!!!!!
Switch was replaced with second hand one - wished i'd paid up and got new from Rimmers. Could it be anything else?
After failure disconnected battery for 2 hours - Problem still there.
Would a T4 test identify location of any fault.

the switch sits in a plastic enclosure that traps water. verdigris grows between the pins and the electrical resistance is sensed as the bonnet being open. new switch ( or clean old switch up if not too bad ) and pack with grease or petroleum jelly.
