Default Steering much lighter after work done.

Hi all,
My silver Tourer has come back from my garage, after some repairs that were needed to pass its Warrant of Fitness.
I had the lower track arm rear bushes/mount replaced, and also the bearing in the top of the front stuts.
A wheel alignment was done also after the he work.
Upon driving the vehicle home, I was pleasantly surprised as to how the steering felt. Much lighter than it was.
I have receipts from the previous owners, which showed an alignment check being done not long before I bought the car.
Has anyone else noticed a change in their steering after replacing the front strut top bearings?
Graeme

New strut top bearings often make a huge difference, I never thought I had a problem on my old car until I changed a set for a customer & delivered the car& noticed how much lighter it was than mine.....................guess what I did to mine next

Checking the tyre pressures has been known to help with heavy steering! No names mentioned of course!!!

As above - I reckon the Strut Bearings were something to do with it.
When they were bad on my ZT-T, the steering was quite 'notchy' and heavy.

Mine's in the workshop right now getting them checked! I think both sides are stuffed. Did you buy the bearings in NZ or ex UK?

This is great news, as I'm trying to solve the same problems with my tourer. The description of the symptoms is exactly what I have experienced.

I got the strut bearings done a while back and prior, my steering was a little notchy mainly when the car was going straight as I believe that's where the bearings wear most. Got the bearings from DMGR (Matt) and I can vouch they appeared to be identical in quality to the factory ones and are still fine (12 months on)
Finally finished sorting out the steering vagueness with new wishbones ,the car drives
beautifully now.
