I'm cleaning/carpet shampooing all the time.

My younger sister and me are finding it harder & harder, Mam isn't fairing too well either at present. she cant be trusted to take the right amount of medication and is taking too much, we go across to give it to them both at regular intervals which is usually met with I can do it! you don't need to keep coming over, but she's no idea what's she's taking.

Just getting dad in & out of my car is a big problem as you only need to pull him up out of the seat & he's bruised to heck.

we got the ambulance to take him the last few times as they wheel him in on his wheelchair and lock it down but it's 5/6 hours of a job them taking him & bringing him back and you cant go with him in the ambulance so I still have to follow in the car because he's deaf as a post too, It's really hard work at present.

We've made an appointment at the doc's tomorrow to see if there's any more help or change his medication or put a colostomy bag on him, he thinks we're going to put him in a home, but that wont happen.
Going through this with my mum atm Ian and having to come to terms with (probably tm at a meeting dictated to us by the outfit operating as council) that I/we DON'T have any choice in the matter bar expensive and time-consuming legal process - the outcome of which is by no means likely to conflict with the opinions of those who ride on the same publicly funded gravy train. I'm a poor little northern boy and that is how I will present at the said meeting.

To be pragmatic, if you have not got it and it is still viable to obtain then LPA for BOTH financial AND health affairs I would say is a must to obtain for both of your parents and your father in particular. Regrettably I swallowed the spiel that decisions for health affairs was best left to the NHS/Authorities so only obtained LPA for financial affairs for my mum. It was a mistake that will not be repeated by any member of my mum's immediate family.

Benefits? If not already done so then get them maximised by someone who knows what they are doing and who is willing to do so from the interests of your parents and your family. Both myself and my sister have spent a fortune of our own money on caring for our mum which with appropriate advice and hindsight was neither in the best interests of our mum nor ourselves going forward.

Cool

Morning all from bright but cloudy Saltash.

May have overdone it a bit yesterday, out in the sun all day stripping a 75 Tourer.
Forgot to take my hat.

So easy day today.

I started this process for my dad almost 2 years ago Steve,as I could see his health deteriorating rapidly. I applied for LPA on both counts, and paid over £400 to his bank, then another sum to the Office of The Public *uardian. Sadly he passed away before the process was finalised, and we didn’t get the money refunded. It has already /even finalised a few years ago for my mum, so she is covered so, should anything happen.

My younger sister & myself have recently filled in the online form for that LPA, I need to find out if she's had any word back from them.

I only live 500 yards from my parents so I'm always on hand to see to them, my sister gave up her job to care for them and is in receipt of carers allowance for them, it's not much £85/week I think!

Morning, wet here. Torpedoed my plans to carry on with a bit of outside painting.

Morning all - 'tis a lovely day up here - warm (but not too hot) sunshine and a light breeze.
I hope everyone is as well as advancing old age allows us to be?

What with shift work and holidays for other relatives, Angela and I are the mainstay of visits to my sister who is still in hospital. We were there yesterday afternoon and will be again today. I must leave a little earlier to avoid catching the start of the teatime rush hour - the hospital is on one of the biggest (and most gridlocked) commuter routes in the area - commonly known as "the Marton crawl".
