It has to be coffee for me ,. At the mo I,m in my man cave with a very large cuppa sorting my youngest ,s school assignment out 😀. It's going to be another grand day here in sunny Tucker's Ford , so I will be cutting some vents out in my neighbours shed and sorting him a new bench but I will probably have 3 more coffee,s before then. Have a great day Phil 😎

Morning, weather forecast talking about record temperatures again, need to be convinced about that, decidedly parky at the moment.

Morning all - welcome to newer visitors to the LCOZ - and a special greeting for Phil this morning - sounds like at long last your medical hiccups (no pun intended!) might be sorted out. Hopefully, a few years with no alarms in view

Another sunny, blue sky day up here, but a tad cool for starters, after a heavy dew/slightly frosty night. Once the sun is a bit higher things should warm up.

Default Condoms?

I have just read in the Daily Mail they are going to issue free condoms to the over sixties, they say it could stop unwanted diseases, or maybe unwanted pregnancies, wtf?.

I dont know about the rest of you who are of a certain age on here, as for me I woulnd not be able to get Willy Wonker stiff enough to put one on, certainly not without a pair of tweezers small enough to stretch it.

By coincidence with your post, my brother is having replacement front and back doors, with low threshold frames, fitted today!
I feel for your sister-in-law Rod and I wonder how the injury figures pan out nationally if any are recorded. Tripping hazard aside I have often found the higher thresholds a nuisance to negotiate when having to carry furniture and other large items over them. As my brother's small westie grew old and succumbed to arthritis he had to carry it over his high threshold and that together with observations of the difficulty they presented to elderly relatives prompted him to change to a lower and more sensible arrangement.

I will be looking to change ours on an opportunity basis or maybe sooner if the worst happens as in the case of your relative. Personally I think that they are a retrograde step and on safety alone I'm a bit surprised that maybe something like building regulations did not prevent their approval if indeed they require it.

Pops is due at the groomers again tomorrow. On his advice I got some tranquillisers from the vet but not too happy with the vet's dosage advice, 10mg tabs, said to give her half (5mg) but looking online it says 0.25-0.3mg per kilo, she weighs 6 kilos so that comes out at 1.8mg, 5mg would knock her out! Going to try her with a quarter, 2.5mg which seems nearer the mark.

Another thing I discovered, at the vet Pops had a painkiller jab after ripping her dew claw off and four tranquilliser tabs, £43! The tranquilliser tabs are available online (with a vet's prescription) for 23p each
