I certainly haven't been able to break or stretch what I've got out despite pulling it with all my strength and there is of course the sharp angle at the end which I would assume, and hope that everybody else does, would be impossible to recreate by a parted pipe ( there is no join )

I’d say your fine buddy.
Change the filter & put your new oil in.

Does seem a bit odd the piece you got out had pretty much the same 'angled' end that you cut into it but estimated 300mm shorter ! to be 100% sure and to help you sleep at night... why don't you go back to the place you bought it from and compare your hose with a new one? As these things are mass produced it's more than likely they would be exactly the same or as near as makes no difference!? worth a try and will cost you nothing to set your mind at rest.

Cheers I would but as its lidl they won't be on sale right now, obviously I'd have to open a packet up and undo all the wire ties on the rolled up tube in order to measure it.

Which I probably would do given the situation but would also expect a hand on the shoulder and being marched out of the shop as well.

I would go against everyone else's thinking and make sure by dropping the sump lower section.

Dropping the lower section will cost a new gasket and a couple of hours to clean it and re-installation. Well worth the peace of mind and risk minimisation.

Will require a good torque wrench of the correct range to refit.

Search for it online, should be able to find the length of the tube.

IIRC you can undo the upper dipstick fixing bolt and simply pull it out of the engine...

I've tried but can't find the length anywhere, as mentioned it says 1.2m on the box, similar looking ones on Ebay quote 1.2m length as well.

But surely even if the tube could be torn apart by brute strength and although giving a reasonable couple of tugs (and I certainly wasn't both feet up braced against the bumper pulling it) it couldn't possibly split apart at a clean cut angle comparable to the one that I cut on the end out the tube before feeding it in, could it?

Still got them on sale here in Plymouth, saw them yesterday I was considering buying one. I settled instead on a battery charger with 30% off the price.
