Does seem a bit odd the piece you got out had pretty much the same 'angled' end that you cut into it but estimated 300mm shorter ! to be 100% sure and to help you sleep at night... why don't you go back to the place you bought it from and compare your hose with a new one? As these things are mass produced it's more than likely they would be exactly the same or as near as makes no difference!? worth a try and will cost you nothing to set your mind at rest.

Which I probably would do given the situation but would also expect a hand on the shoulder and being marched out of the shop as well. |

I would go against everyone else's thinking and make sure by dropping the sump lower section.
Dropping the lower section will cost a new gasket and a couple of hours to clean it and re-installation. Well worth the peace of mind and risk minimisation. Will require a good torque wrench of the correct range to refit. Last edited by MSS; 12th March 2019 at 08:57.. |

IIRC you can undo the upper dipstick fixing bolt and simply pull it out of the engine...

But surely even if the tube could be torn apart by brute strength and although giving a reasonable couple of tugs (and I certainly wasn't both feet up braced against the bumper pulling it) it couldn't possibly split apart at a clean cut angle comparable to the one that I cut on the end out the tube before feeding it in, could it? I have a pump somewhere in the garage which I bought at Lidl or perhaps Aldi, not sure and can't remember atm. What model number are we looking at/for?
