The overall concept of a leather dash is very appealing tbh but as I'm a bit of a perfectionist a home fit kit just isn't within my capability and would no doubt end up looking like a dogs dinner! If I were going to have a kit made and fitted I would only want to see the seams around the edges of panels rather than running through them, but that's just my opinion. My reply was never intended to offend your workmanship, I guess I have this pre-conceived image of Aston Martin style leather interiors as my benchmark for quality and as I would never in a million years be able to replicate that I wouldn't go ahead with it. I still stand by the use of just a thin padding behind the leather (in between the seams) just to bring the leather up to the same height as the seams making the overall depth of leather consistent. But as said by other members ... it's your car, your mod, and your choice and if you're happy with it ... that's all that matters. |

Thanks for your reply, I was not offended by your comments in the slightest, I'm my own biggest critic and I asked for opinions, so I can't complain when I get negative but honest ones. I do see your point and If both vents had been as good as the right centre one I'd have been happier but it was a trial attempt and could have been worse I guess. Mabey attempt 2 will be up to an Aston standard . As for padding I'm not sure I could remove the leather as I used a really good glue, so I think it may tear. Cheers. Lee.

Another way of achieving the leather dash is wrapping it in leather effect vinyl.
