I had overdrive on 3rd and 4th gear operated by a neat little switch on the gear-lever on my Triumph GT6. I thought it was great!

Overdrive 3rd was same ratio as normal 4th gear and overdrive 4th provided a long legged 5th gear for cruising.

There was no more than about half a second delay in the overdrive kicking in - and felt much like an auto box change.

In its day it was a great option. Now of course even six speed gearboxes are fairly standard

For some weird reason back in 78 I decided it would be a great idea to put a vinyl roof on my MK1 escort 1300, not the usual vinyl kit of course ... I found 'vinyl roof in a can!! just spray it on, stand back and admire.
OMG ... more like stand back and cry .... it looked like it had been set on fire, put out, and then left all black 'n' crispy!
Not the best mod in the world but it made all my mates laugh for hours ... days, months even.
Had to sell it in the end as the never ending ribbing was just too much.

What about those "beaded" seat covers that fell apart when the strings broke....

I had a Ventura with an overdrive and switch on top of the gearstick, I absolutely loved it - great for overtaking. I could sit there in 3rd, on overdrive, which was roughly equal to 4th. When an opportunity presented itself, click over drive off, floor it, then back on as my speed increased. Then into 4th overdrive once well clear to gentle cruise.

I still miss it, much quicker than changing gear and no loss of power..

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

And "nodding dogs", which I still have on the rear shelf of my Mini, along with pink, yes, pink fluffy dice!

Left foot operated windscreen washer pump (as in my mini), floor starter, and light on the end of the indicator stalk!

Add on semaphore indicators which used to stick, so you gave the door pillar a whack to free them!
