If you remember, in February I had a perforated stomach ulcer and was in hospital for 7 days. I am still on treatment for it and I wouldn’t want you to go through the same. I urge you to ask someone to hand in and collect your prescription if your not able to do it yourself, a relative or a friend.

Both my mother and father suffer ill health, and when my father went into hospital with heart failure nothing prepared us for what laid ahead. Looking after my mother was extremely hard work, and when my father came out of hospital we had to care for them both.

Thankfully overtime my father became strong again, he's a strong stubborn begger and managed to cheat death, so he now cares for them both as he always has done. This has given my wife and I a huge break, we only now need to oversee a few things on a weekly basis. But the time will come again where they will not be able to care for themselves, and we will find ourselves in another similar situation as before. This time I will most probably have to get power of attorney, this on its own is a stressful ordeal to go through, nothing is ever easy.

The care from the NHS is very limited, thankfully with the help from my wife made things easier for me, so its very important Richard to get someone to help you.

I hope your mother gets better, don't let her give up.
Thanks for the concern gents, but really I’m fine, my problems were just a one off, and I will get the script over the weekend. An update on mum, there has been one almighty f&£# up by the hospital doctor. Mum was told she had to come back to the elderly assessment unit today, and I was sitting next to her when the doc said that. She (the doc) said that the patient transport service would pick her up and bring her home again. So mum was ready waiting for them to come between 11 and 1, she rang me at 2 pm to say she was still waiting. I called pts and they had no record of her being on any list for today, I rang the unit at the hospital, they had nothing in the diary for her being booked today either, and here’s the best bit, the doc who she saw on Wednesday, and told her to come back today, doesn’t even bl00dy well work on a Friday! Work that one out. Mum said her leg was getting more red and purple ,so I called her surgery and asked for an urgent visit, thankfully we were there when the doc arrived, he took bp and listened to her heart and chest, said all was ok there. He has increased her a b dose and said the skin is so thin it may split and cause an ulcer, but has booked the nurse to come each day and change the dressing and monitor the situation. The stress has made me ill now, I have a sore throat and a cough. Desperate for a holiday, but can’t have one until this leg thing is stabilised and the constipation eases.
To say I’m well peed off is an understatement.

Sorry to hear this Rich. Try and stay calm for your Mum’s sake and for your health. We are here if you need to let off steam, or want to chat.

Roger has been in contact so I’ll be up before Xmas for that beer.

I hope that things have calmed down by then for me to enjoy it Bob. Roger wanted to take me out for a drink tonight for my birthday, but I had to turn him down as I’m just not in the right frame of mind to celebrate it.

Hi Richard

What a miserable and frustrating day you and your mum had. What happened with the clinic in outpatients, does not inspire confidence, but when the NHS works, it’s a beautiful machine. You did your best, only to be let down by a disorganised Doctor.

You said recently your GP had referred you for an ultrasound scan, querying IBS or a stomach ulcer and had done a script. I won’t repeat my advice as that would be an insult to you.

In the interim, get yourself a bottle of Gaviscon liquid, all supermarkets sell it without a prescription or there’s Gaviscon lozenges, both work fast in providing rapid relief from acid.

Look after yourself.

Hi Andy

Thanks for looking at Rimmers and for pulling up the right part number. It was really very kind of you to help. I have ordered a new A/C sticker and a shiny Rover boot badge

Morning Bob,

The car is washing itself now..............It's raining and looks like it will be for quite some time

Much cooler though which should make for a few decent nights sleep. I have aircon at home which keeps you cool, it's just the noise that keeps you awake instead
