I don't make a habit of taking paracetamol Phil but with my history and current meds I am severely restricted as to what I can take. The heart incident rules 99.9% of over the counter painkillers. Seeing the GP is fine, if you know your going to need painkillers in a couple of days time!

Its not so painful today, still an occasional pulse of pain and swollen in the immediate area, still feel as if my top lip doesn't belong to me! The eyedrops are disgusting when they work their way down to the back of your throat!

Afternoon all, still warm & muggy here, had the odd light shower roll through this afternoon and that's all.
I've been mowing the lawns & collecting the seed pods from the Iris plants that have finished blooming in the front garden, They look exactly like sweetcorn kernels. Going to plant them up in pots over Autumn.

Blimey! I get points deducted for speeding in train sim games by the odd 5-10 mph over limits but nowt on the scale of this driver, I should imagine he will be filling lots of forms in over that. https://www.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-englan...herts-49206580

Salad weather so we're having cottage pie carrots, sweetcorn & asparagus for tea.

Evening all, how is everyone? What a delightful day it has been with the weather reaching 26.5C no complaints about that. Jessica said she wanted to walk the Royal Crescent in Bath. As we were driving into Bath, there was an almighty grating sound coming from the rear offside wheel.

The AA attended and took the rear brake drum apart. He found a split pin rolling around inside. He looked further and said the ABS sensor looked wrecked. After he reassembled everything I went for a test drive and no more nasty noises, but the ABS light is permanently on.

We carried on home at a leisurely speed and on the way back, I took the car into Formula One. The guy there put a snap on OBD tablet on and it flashed up both rear ABS sensors have failed. The code would not clear. He said no charge, hoping I will use his services again. He said it could be the sensors, he doubts it’s the reluctors, but won’t know until he can get the car in and have a proper look

Is there improvement Steve? I hope so. When you say you feel as though your lip doesn’t belong to you, is that because it is numb?

Evening Phil, if the diagnosis was correct and a split pin was found then I suspect this has been fitted to cure a rusty backplate at some point, the correct fixings for the handbrake shoes are a 'push in and turn' type of locking pin.

If anything was loose in there then there is a good chance that the ABS sensor will have been damaged.

You are wise on all counts Andy

I had forgotten the split pin had been used to cure a rusty back plate. At the time, it was one of those jobs “no charge”. The AA man said I should ask for a new back plate kit. I have asked Formula One to put an order in for the new sensors, the kit and new bearings. To send anything back which doesn’t get used. I decided not to use my regular mechanic as he has far too much to do at the moment, bless him.
