Red face Factory fitted alarm - Faulty help please

Can someone please help me asap. I have a 2005 Rover 75 Connoisseur, and as of yesterday my alarm started to play up. When pressing the button on the remote to set alarm it sets and then goes off. The reason the alarm is going if is that on the dash it is showing that something is open a door or whatever. But nothing is open. Can someone give me useful information of what the problem is and the best place to take it to. I am in Cradley Heath, west Mids.

Thanks

Most common one is a faulty/wet bonnet switch or if it's been quite frosty sometimes the door open switch sticks in the door lock & causes a similar issue. What you usually get is a beep or chirp when you alarm the car though

Thanks for the prompt reply.

Yes my situation is, that I do get a beep or chirp when setting the alarm, however as soon as I set the alarm it starts to go off. Then it is showing on the dash that something is open when it's not???
So what would you recommend for me to do? Bearing in mind that I have never experienced this before and haven't a clue what to do. I am trying to avoid high costs in sorting this problem and maybe having to take it to a technician.

Regards,

Try opening & closing your bonnet, boot & all doors.

Try popping the bonnet switch out & giving it a good squirt of WD40 or similar & put it back in, the little rubber cover can sometimes be fiddly but persevere with it

My guess would be to start with the bonnet switch, this is the usual culprit. A quick pointer to the bonnet switch would be the interior lights work as expected, as the bonnet is the only opening not to put the indoor lights on.
