Default Steel wheels with plastic wheel trims

Hi to all.
Whilst walking through town today I was horrified to see a 54 plate 75 with steel wheels dressed in plastic trims. ( I know ,I'm sad and need to get out more lol ) Was this a standard option for our cars or just an aftermarket add on the owner has undertaken. Either way it looked blooming awful on such a nice car.

I think the non SE Classics had steel wheels and trims as well as other penny pinching features like non colour coded door mirrors (black).
Quite rare to see one though.

Oddly enough just posted a thread asking this very question as have seen an 05 plated facelift for sale that has these steel wheels and plasitc trims/finishers. And yes it does have black mirror backs.

Part of our collection is an 05 75 classic with wheel trims, black mirrors and manual aircon

I've always fancied a bog basic Classic with none of the toys fitted.

A much rarer car than all the Connie SE's

I think there were some made with no air con at all.

Classics are also identified with rear door wind-up windows. and yes the classics were originally steel wheeled with plastic covers.... But specs were available to original buyers.. so the classic was not necessarily supplied with steel wheels. esp. wrt to Tourers

The SE versions did not necessarily have alloys....(again esp. wrt to Tourers) AFAIK...

Oddly enough while perusing for sale site found another classic on steel rims. Not seen or rather noticed them before and now like busses two come along.

Why would anyone want one of these cars when there's so little difference in price between that and a Connoisseur SE now?

The 1st one I noticed is for sale at £350 which is half that of the Connie SE's that i have seen for sale.
