I've got an 096 Bosch in my dizzle. It fits no problem and has been good for the past 4 years.

Got 096 batteries in all 3 Rovers. I’m staggered how expensive they seem to be.
My local supplier will do a cash over the counter deal on all batteries.
063 for my ZR and Rover 45, £31.
096 for the 75 and Streetwise, £55.
075 battery £48.
Battery for my Scimitar GTE, £36 off the shelf.
If anyone is passing its Battery Megastore, Tewkesbury. They have a web site too. Cash is king with them.

Just to advise a slightly different option if 096 battery height an issue. When replacing the 096 on my ZT diesel a couple of years ago, and seeking direct replacement I was advised to try an 075 with 5 year guarantee instead. I live high up [800ft asl] with cars facing north. The 075 seems to give a higher starting crank, and is a few cms lower in height than an 096 so lid is easier to fit in the compartment. I got a Varta from Tayna batteries in N Wales with next day delivery for a similar price to Brian's option above. Not any issues so far.

Just done the same replacement for my 75 Diesel tourer, again at similar price. To be fair the 096 Halfrauds battery it replaced was installed by the car's previous owner not long before I bought it in 2009, so didn't done too badly in view of the local conditions.

It's fine for my KV6/2.5 and Ah capacity is OK but not sure about the CCA for a diesel, however you might consider the 010 (or 100) size case (my Exide was a good deal from Eurocarparts) - width and length are the same as an 096 but it's a little bit lower - 15mm- in O/A height, just enough to allow the lid to close properly.

My stepson's diesel auto battery failed the other day and all I had to swap it with was one from a Rover 25. It looked a bit lost in the battery compartment, but started the car fine.

Ordered a replacement but by the time it got here and was fitted a week had gone by with the car starting and running perfectly, even in these cold conditions.
