Default fuel consumption myth?

is it me or is it true?
Travelling south uses less fuel then travelling North.

Should be true as according to my globe, north is indeed going up.

Do the maths on the difference in height. FYI the diameter of the earth is almost 8000 miles.

Default Not necessarily...

The formula is:

wind direction x number of passengers(and weight) x speed x roadworks x delays....

Seriously now..... I have done some research and Manchester is geographically 125 feet higher than London so you could say up North and down South.

Well going south would be towards the equator.......where the earth is wider and therefore creating more gravity, meaning a greater pull, so less effort.

Don't forget to take into consideration air density, which is affected by how hot the air is down south relative to up north.

Can't answer the question but whatever get you self a diesel.

I purchased my car approx 2 years ago stuck 65€ in it and after 30k+ kms it is still showing half full. I have cleaned the egr, put in an inline thermostat, gave the injectors a blast of cleaner, new filters all round and an oil change.

Although this was the BP super diesel none the of the cheap supermarket stuff. A little more expensive I know but worth it!

Also when having new tyres fitted, make sure they inflate them with helium, this will reduce road resistance and increase MPG considerably!

That's a great idea. Also, fit larger wheels to the back of the car. That way you will always be going downhill.

Also check the weather forecast for the wind direction, delay your journey until the wind blows in the direction you wish to travel.

Fix a poor handbrake; DIY ABS diagnostic unit; Loan of the spanner needed to change the CDT belts; free OBD diagnostics +MAF; Correct Bosch MAF cheap; DVB-T install in an ex-hi-line system; DD install with a HK amp; FBH servicing.

I've taken a vow of poverty. To annoy me, send money.

Sorry, but parts of Manchester are lower than some parts of London. So where does that leave us? How is it that when I go ‘up’ to Scotland, I get more mpg? Than when I go down to Folkstone for the shuttle to France? There are no myths about mpg if you fill up to the brim and drive until you run out and do 1000 miles, you have done x amount of miles. If you only do 500 miles, you have only done 50% of the miles that you did before. I’m feeling sleepy now. I am going to bed to dream about the smell of diesel, again.
